Getting to London
For travelers heading to London, one of the busiest cities in Europe, there are many ways to get there. Whether you are coming from elsewhere in England, another country in Europe, or from across the pond, you'll have no trouble getting transportation from where ever you are into London.
Travel by Plane
If you are traveling by plane, there are two major airports that you can use. They are Heathrow Airport and Gatwick Airport. Both of these are serviced by many different airlines and offer travel between destinations on most of the continents in the world. Deciding which one to take depends on what airline you are taking, what prices they offer on flights to each of these airports, and which part of London you plan to visit. There are also two other small airports in London, Stansted and Luton. These are good if you are going to an out of the way area of London, or if you can find a better deal from one of these airports
Travel by Rail
The national rail system of England is quite good, and will be able to get you from almost any city in England to London. There are many, many different railway stations that you can get off at in London, but some of the biggest ones include King's Cross, Paddington Station, St Pancras, and Waterloo. In addition to the National Rail system of England, you can travel between London and Paris using the Eurostar rail. This is a high speed train that travels under the English channel through a tunnel, and will get you from Paris to London in about three hours.
Travel by Bus
There are many buses that offer service around England, and most of them will go into London. Bus may be a better option for some than using the train, because it often costs less. However, it may take slightly longer to get into London by bus rather than by train. Almost any city around London will have bus service into London. National Express is one of the main bus companies in England that you can use. Another company to look into is MegaBus, which offers low rates for travel around England. With MegaBus you just need to make sure that you buy your ticket in advance. It is also possible to get to London by bus from cities that are further away.
